A shepherd carrying a salamander symbolizes the legend, which tells us about the establishment of Banská Štiavnica. This character opens unique Salamander parade, which was proclaimed to be a part of Slovak Cultural Heritage in 2013. Hundreds of figures in historical costumes, resembling memories and scenes from the life of old Banská Štiavnica, are strolling around the town. Besides the parade concerts, theatrical performances for children, open days, exhibitions, bazaar with minerals and other events for all age-groups are also part of the programme.
