To the Calvary of Banská Štiavnica

The Calvary is a Baroque complex of buildings that is becoming one of the most visited sights of the town thanks to its recent renovation. It is a precious harmonious combination of nature, architecture and art. Ascending here will reward you with beautiful views of the surroundings and of the town.

You can walk here from the centre of the town in 45 minutes. Turn left by the statue of Andrej Kmeť (in case you start in the town’s centre), along the front of the Church of Virgin Mary Ascension, then continue along the main street, until you see the Calvary. The trail is marked on the map of the town. If you are arriving to Štiavnica by car from the north, you can park at Hájik (a place right in front of the sign of Banská Štiavnica on the left-hand side) and walk to the Calvary on foot across meadows.
